Governor Brown Released Spending Plan for Fiscal Year

Today Governor Brown released his spending plan for the 2013-14 fiscal year.  The Governor is required to release his budget in January, which starts the process of adopting a budget before the new fiscal year begins on July 1, 2013.  The budget now moves to the Legislature, where they will have extensive hearings over the next few months before sending the Governor an updated plan before July 1.  It will take some time to fully analyze the spending plan, but initially it appears the Governor’s plan did not make any significant changes to the Cal Grant program that would impact for profit institutions.  You can review a full budget summary at http://www.dof.ca.gov/documents/FullBudgetSummary_web2013.pdf

CAPPS will be monitoring the budget process closely and will keep you apprised of any significant changes that impact our sector.
