Hotel Information:  The workshop will be held at the Renaissance Long Beach.  A limited number of rooms have been set aside for Workshop attendees at the rate of $169 per night. Wednesday, June 27
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Registration and continental breakfast from 8 – 9 a.m.  Workshop begins at 9 a.m.  Lunch will be provided.

  • New Verification Requirements:  No more 1040s! The Program Integrity regulations published in 2010 made dramatic changes to the verification process. This session will review the new requirements and discuss how to implement them.
  • Consumer Information Requirements: A Compliance Checklist:  The 2008 HEOA added several consumer information requirements for all Title IV Institutions. Is your Institution in compliance? Hear a review of the consumer information requirements and discuss various approaches to maintain compliance.
  • Student Personally Identifiable Information (PII):  What is PII? This session will include a review of the basic FERPA requirements, a discussion on protection of PII, and the Red Flags policy requirements.

Thursday, June 28

Continental breakfast from 8 – 9 a.m.  Workshop begins at 9 a.m.

  • Gainful Employment Metrics:  The Gainful Employment (GE) metrics are the new measures schools have to meet for all GE programs. Gain a better understanding of how these metrics are calculated and what the implications are for your Institution’s programs.

About the Presenter

Kris Strom, Owner, Choice Consulting & Training Services, Inc.
Kris has worked in financial aid for over 25 years, and started Choice Consulting 20 years ago. Choice Consulting offers financial aid training, file review, and ongoing policy and procedure development and evaluation. The company has worked with all types of institutions across the United States, including for-profit, private non-profit and public institutions with varied educational offerings, from cosmetology to computer to flight schools; from diplomas and certificates to undergraduate and graduate degrees. Choice works with clock hour, non-term, non-standard term and term program structures, and has provided consulting services to institutions initially seeking accreditation and Title IV participation.
