Why Join CAPPS?
Every year California loses more and more proprietary schools while most
other states in the nation are seeing an increase in the sector. Why is
this happening? California is one of the most difficult states for
private postsecondary schools to operate and it seems like every day there
is new legislation written to attack our sector. Vocational rehabilitation
schools have all but disappeared… Dental Assistants can now be trained
by dentists rather than in a school…
What will happen next? And how will it affect you?
By joining CAPPS today you help ensure that our staff and lobbyists are
working on the issues that directly affect you. CAPPS is entirely
self-supporting and most of that revenue is from dues. While CAPPS works
on behalf of all proprietary schools in California our resources are limited
and those issues that we focus on are dictated by our member’s concerns.
Too many times CAPPS is the first place non-member school’s call when regulations
change and too many times it’s too late for CAPPS to provide effective
help. When the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education
closed CAPPS was inundated with calls from non-member schools looking for
guidance while CAPPS members had been preparing for months. By joining
now YOU can help direct CAPPS’ priorities and you won’t be left in the
dark the next time something momentous occurs.
CAPPS’ staff, lobbyists and legal counsel influence, support or actively oppose over 100 pieces of legislation introduced annually in the state legislature that affect you. Protect your rights to operate your school in a business-like manner.
CAPPS is the only statewide association representing YOU with the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), the Boards of Dental, Psychology, Medical, Behavioral Sciences, Cosmetology, Respiratory Care, Nursing and other regulatory entities that are critical to your success.
