Florida Career College Response to DOE Announcement

CECU

Official Statement Attributable to Joe Cockrell, FCC Spokesperson:
“We are deeply disappointed in the Department of Education’s myopic and misguided decision. The DOE risks harming thousands of students seeking economic stability and a better life. For more than 40 years, our singular focus has been quality career training programs that meet or exceed all state and Federal regulations so that people can find a good job in their chosen career path. We intend to fight this unjust and inequitable decision vigorously on behalf of our students and the communities we serve.”
Key Facts:
• FCC consistently meets and exceeds the requirements set by accreditors and state and federal regulators.
• Florida Career College campuses adhere not only to requirements set by accreditors, but state and federal regulations. FCC is routinely commended by accreditors for its exceptional           student services offerings including career services, job placement, volunteer opportunities, and access to additional community and government resources.
• These regulatory groups ensure we are providing our students with a valuable education and help place them in jobs upon completion of their programs.
• Between the various regulatory bodies, more than 200 criteria must be met in areas including curriculum, quality of education, physical resources and equipment, student services,
institutional outcomes and fiduciary duties.
• Students who graduate from FCC have obtained vital career and vocational training that make them ready to immediately enter the workforce upon completion of their program.
• In fact, FCC goes one step further than traditional higher education institutions, by placing students in jobs once they graduate.
• The results speak for themselves. Last year 77% of FCC students were placed in jobs related to their programs of study.
