Attempted cyber attack affects San Diego community college systems

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Community College District said it experienced system outages after an ongoing attempted cyber attack that started on Saturday.
The district, which includes San Diego City, Mesa, Miramar and Continuing Education colleges, said the attack was detected immediately by the district’s IT system.
It said that as a safeguard, the district’s internet, email, websites, web-based phones and student registration systems were taken offline.
As of Monday evening, no student, employee or district data had been compromised, the district told FOX 5/KUSI in an email.
