The sound of success for many people has changed when it comes to seeking education after high school or later in life.
A growing need for technical workers across the country has triggered a wave of higher enrollment in trade schools.
Four-year traditional universities and colleges meantime are overall taking a hit.
This trend is in large part due to the skilled labor industry being flooded with job openings, according to Lynda Cervantes of Western Tech.
“Those individuals used to work in like in HVAC… technicians, mechanics, diesels, they are now retiring. So there is this trend that’s happening now that those employers are feeling the pinch and they just don’t have enough technicians to fill the workforce,” Cervantes said.
