The Senate committee hearing to confirm President-elect Trump’s education secretary nominee, Linda McMahon, likely won’t happen until after Inauguration Day, Politico reported.
Dr. Bill Cassidy, a Louisiana Republican senator and chair of the committee that will process the nomination, told Politico that the former wrestling entertainment CEO’s hearing won’t be scheduled until the committee receives certain paperwork. The Trump transition team has to submit documents such as financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms to the Office of Government Ethics on behalf of each nominee before they can be confirmed.
While Senate committees have set up hearings for national security and energy-related cabinet picks next week, McMahon’s questioning has yet to be put on the calendar.
