President Trump Takes executive Action to Promote employment in family-sustaining Skilled Trades
PRESIDENT TRUMP IS STREAMLING FRAGMENTED FEDERAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
A new executive order signed by President Trump directs the Departments of Education, Labor, and Commerce to develop a “Comprehensive Worker Investment and Development Strategy” to ensure federal support for workforce development programs prioritizes employment and wages.
Agency heads are directed to identify and recommend reforms to address ineffective programs, target resources towards “upskilling” American workers (e.g., the use of artificial intelligence), and realign credentials and education assessments (e.g., 4-year degrees) to better support industry needs.
